Really looking forward to the World Discipleship Summit this summer. The theme is “On the Mountain of the Lord” which is taken from Genesis 22, the story of Abraham and Isaac on Mount Moriah.
Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means “the Lord will provide”). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”
- Genesis 22:14
Here is a song I wrote for the conference based on this story. In the video below I share more detail about the story and the song. Also below is a demo recording I put together for our worship band to learn it. For those of you who are worship leaders, it would be great if you could sing the song with your congregation before we come together in San Antonio this summer, so folks could be a little familiar with it.
Look forward to seeing you this summer!
[UPDATE - see this new post that goes through the song on guitar and gives the capo chords. See my new CD that has studio version of this song plus lots of other uplifting tunes.]
On the Mountain of the Lord – demo recording
ON THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD
(Genesis 22)
They were walking up the mountain
Isaac asked of Abraham
“Here I see the wood and fire
But for the offering, where’s the Lamb?”
Abraham thought for a moment
The question must have pierced him deep
But then he gave his son the answer
Still is true for you and me
“God Himself is here to help us
There is an offering in store
All we need will be provided
On the Mountain of the Lord”
On the Mountain of the Lord
It will be provided
On the Mountain of the Lord
On the Mountain of the Lord
It will be provided
On the Mountain of the Lord
They were walking up the mountain
Two thousand years, the time had come
The wooden cross, the Lamb of God
The offering of an only Son
God Himself came down to help us
Hands were pierced, His blood was poured
All we need has been provided
On the Mountain of the Lord
On the Mountain of the Lord
It will be provided
On the Mountain of the Lord
On the Mountain of the Lord
It will be provided
On the Mountain of the Lord
You say, ask in Your name
And we will receive
Faith can move a mountain
If we will believe
ON THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD

hi Brian,
is there a way that I can get/buy the sheet music?
I have watched the video of this song in WDS 2012, and it’s great.

Sorry, I don’t have any sheet music – just the chord charts for now. Will work on putting some sheet music together at some point…
