The Other Side – lyric video

I wrote this song back in 2005, and didn’t do much with it back then, but it really has taken on deeper meaning in the last few years.  We had a sermon series we did called “Travel Light” that was based on Psalm 23 and all about how God shepherds us, guides us, and leads us home.  As we were going through this series as a church we were also all praying for our dear brother Scott Hachiya who was in his final stages of battling cancer.  The final sermon was called “Finishing Strong” and we had planned to introduce this song on that day.  Coincidently, Scott passed on to paradise the day before I preached that sermon and sang this song.  It had such profound meaning for me I decided to put together a whole album of songs with this title.  Here is the version of the song that appears on that album.  May we all “finish strong” the way Scott did, with faith, conviction, peace of heart, and trust in our savior.

The Other Side

The river is deep
The valley is wide
The road is so long
The mountain so high
But all you have promised
Can’t be denied
And you will carry me across
To the other side

The other side, other side
The other side, other side

This world will have trouble
This world will have doubt
Satan, he tells me
My strength might give out
But grace in my weakness
Hear when I cry
And you will carry me across
To the other side

The other side, other side
The other side, other side

Someday I’ll make it
Someday I’ll die
Someday you’ll call me
To be there by your side
The gate into heaven
Will open up wide
And you will carry me across
To the other side

The other side, other side
The other side, other side
