Worship You My King

“What was I made for?” the Barbie movie, Grammy-award-winning song asks? (I got to accompany my daughter singing that song a month or so ago for our annual Women’s Day, by the way, what fun! And what a great song.) What was I made for? Why am I here? As I grapple with the deepest questions of life right now, already surviving past the typical glioblastoma patient at my stage, this is something I think about every day. I want every moment to count. I want to accomplish what I was put here to do. Why am I here? In a word, “worship.” Worship is what I was made for (Isaiah 43:21).

WORSHIP YOU MY KING
CCLI # 7231636

You have made me
Though you shaped me still you know
How imperfect I can be
I’m unworthy
But you turn me toward your light
And you set my spirit free

I will worship you
Almighty maker of everything
I will lift my voice and sing
I will worship you
With all of my soul,
All my inmost being
I will worship you, my king

All creation
Every nation on the earth
Every soul wants to belong
From the inside
Hear my heart, wide open now
Crying out to you in song

I will worship you
Almighty maker of earth and sea
I will lift my hands and sing
I will worship you
As all round the world
All our praise will ring
I will worship you, my king

In my heart you reign alone
Forever seated on the throne
In my heart you reign alone

I will worship you
Almighty maker of everything
I will lift my voice and sing
I will worship you
Almighty maker of earth and sea
I will worship you, my king

I will worship you
Almighty maker of everything
I will worship you, my king
I will worship you
As all round the world
All our praise will ring
I will worship you, my king

New Song, “Yahweh”

Thanks so much for all of you who continue to pray for me and encourage me in my health journey. I am coming up on one year since life changed dramatically for me, and I’m still processing and learning, living each day grateful for every moment. I wanted to share a new song today that was inspired a year or two ago by spending a lot of time in the Torah, specifically via the Bible Project podcast (which I referenced in my post last week as well). I feel like God was preparing me for my present struggle with a lot of foundational study about the ancient faith and cosmic story I get to be a part of. I know whatever happens with my cancer, Life carries on and I am grateful for whatever part I get to play in all the heavens and earth declaring the praise of my God and creator, YHWH. I love that a couple little birds couldn’t help but join in as I was singing this song of praise (listen and you’ll hear their beautiful voices).

Yahweh

Israel
Chosen servant
Holy nation saved
Promised land
Law observant
Fractured and afraid

So he came
Humble manger
Our Creator near
Here he dwells
Word now living
God of Torah here

All the heavens declaring your praise
All the nations bow down and afraid
Here we call on your Almighty Name Yahweh
As the perfect reflection He came
And by no other Way are we saved
We’re baptized and reborn in His Name
Yahweh

With one voice
Sing with joy we
Gather in your name
Jesus saves
Jesus makes us
Whole again, remade

What a fellowship
What a joy divine
Leaning on the everlasting arms
What a blessedness
What a peace is mine
Leaning on the everlasting arms

Leaning, leaning
Leaning on the everlasting arms
